Can you resist the temptation to LOOK at someone else's computer screen when walking by, or from a table behind them at university, business, Internet hotspot, or elsewhere?

I got the feeling that someone was looking over my shoulder at my screen in a coffeehouse earlier today, and told the lad I was PMing. Of course he aids their efforts by increasing the font size from the standard 2 to 7 just so they can read it better from afar. (You don't want to know what he said!)

I do it from time to time!!! But I am VERY PARANOID when it happens to me!!!

When I am on an IM client I will minimise it, I will change to Youtube and just not use anything else when someone is near me.

When outside and random people are using the interwebs I do look, at home I just don't care!!!

I only look when outside in the hope a boardsie is using boards or someone is on different websites I use!!!!

Sometimes, but I'm amazingly nosey. Just a quick look though, I don't stare.

I hate it when people do it to me though.. I get amazingly paranoid if I'm using a computer in public

(You don't want to know what he said!)

Statements like this make baby jesus/mohammed etc cry.

It would have made zero difference to your post if you had not included this.

    WHAT DID HE SAY?

Its not inquisitive its just plain nosey and rude. I'm going to masturbate later, wanna come round and peer through the keyhole at me?

Tilted my laptop screen almost flat against the table today in a coffeehouse Internet hotspot to make it hard to read from a distance, and I guess that really got everyone's curiosity, because I noticed almost everyone taking sneak peaks as they walked by. LOL that was self-defeating!

It's not nosey or rude, it's a quick glance I'm not even conscious of and when I am I immediately look away, and by the responses it's not like it's unusual behaviour, either.

I think it's normal to 'shoulder surf' ... Humans are naturally quite inquisitive.

When I'm in college computer rooms, I normally have a little glance at what people on either side of me are looking at. I wouldn't read what they were typing, I'd just be interested to see what websites they were on.

I was sitting in a hotel lobby on Friday night, on my laptop, availing of the free wifi, as it wasn't available in my room.
This guy staggered out of the bar, came up behind me, and shouted "BOARDS! SHE'S ON BOARDS!" whilst shaking my shoulders violently.
Then he just walked off ... weird.

If anyone would like to own up to the guy being them, I'd much appreciate it. I've been pondering his possible username ever since! :p

I do a computing course, so my labs consist of being done early and glancing around the room until I decide it's ok to leave (Either when someone else leaves or a few other people are ****ing around on Facebook).

I think I've noticed some other people doing it too, alt-tabbing back to the code whenever the lecturer walks in :P

It's still a yes.. I'm still doing it at the end of it all, aren't I? :p

<Night-hen-gayle> I gotta go. There's a dude next to me and he's watching me type, which is sort of starting to creep me out. Yes dude next to me, I mean you.

    *Shoulder surfing survey...

"Whilst most (78 per cent) admitted to shoulder surfing their fellow travellers – usually out of curiosity (44 per cent) or boredom (15 per cent) – a sizeable majority (68 per cent) said that they felt uncomfortable or vulnerable to other travellers shoulder surfing their own laptops."
