Im considering buying a standard telecaster, in natural finish, but as the wood grain is important, and because im a anal about getting a a guitar in exactly perfect condition, i dont want to risk ordering it online.

Aside from xmusic who dont currently have the guitar in stock, can anyone recommend other good irish stores that have good selections, and stores in the UK that would be likely to have the guitar in stock.

I got a strat from musicstore.de, and it was packed in brand new sealed box (which it would be delivered instore in) and then a much bigger box full of big plastic air bubbles! If a baby was sent in it it wouldnt have arrived in better condition.

I buy all my stuff there now, amazing prices, packing, and selection is mind blowing :)

its not the packaging im worried about at all. fenders all come in their own hardcase. I want to ensure the guitar is of top quality. i have played some guitars ( all makes, not just fender) in stores, and i dont know how they got passed QA, so Id want to give the guitar a good going over before cash changes hands.

Your right to be precise about it, most people dont even realise one guitar model can be good or bad depending on the guitar and that you would have to be crazy to buy without seeing it.
Not sure, I suppose try Music Maker or Waltons. Also a shop in Monaghan, http://www.pianocentre.com normally have quite a few Fenders in stock. Ring around the stores and find out. Waltons tend to be expensive though, I don't think they price match anything.

any shops are only going to have one of each model if even and that will be out on shop and shop soiled, also I wouldnt think many would have a natural wood finished standard AM strat, but your best bet is Waltons on Georges st. Theres a number of guitar shops in those couple of streets round there (Music Maker is the other best one) or Waltons in Nth Fredrick st.

Ad Lib music in carlow might be worth a shot, they had quite a large selection of guitars the last time i was in there. Maybe give em a ring first before you travel

These people are in the UK. Runcon I'm told is just outside Liverpool.

They certainly carry a big stock

Was shopping in xmusic myself yesterday, and I was told they are expecting a big Fender order in any day now....so Id ring, and arrange a call back from the lads when the order came in if I was you.

Thats good, I was in there bout 2 weeks ago and was very disappointed with the Fender selection they had in stock. I presume the order should be a decent size. Might have to make a trip myself.
