Fields jewelers bullied me out of shopping centre

I had a small stall organised for macdonagh centre in kilkenny selling some silver jewellry, but wait for it , when fields jewellers found out they put in an objection, and as a result the centre management told me they could not let me operate. Now fields jewelers are probably the most exclusive high end jewelers in the country , and they feel threatened by a 6 x 6 stall ! talk about using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, I am well cheesed off!

bring on the season of goodwill

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately there is v little sentiment in business these days. They are established and will easily get their way with the centre management.
Not sure if bullying is the appropriate word. Best of luck in setting up somewhere else.

Fields pay a premium for their rent and for the protection assured that they will not face any more competition within the shopping center.

Its just standard practice that anything that will take away from their business is something that they will not be happy about. I know you might think its harsh but its no worse than you paying top dollar for the only jewelery stall in a market and a month after you open the landlord lets another jewelery stall open, you'd go nuts.

Exactly right - perfectly understandable action from Fields

Weirs, Wests, Paul Sheeran may take offence at that!:)

I feel for you mate. Unfortunate if you were so close to being set up. Perhaps offer to sell the items to the fields in the SC? Cheeky but ballsy at the same time could work.

It's unfortunate to here stories like this, perhaps they were only enforcing the terms of their lease, but as you suggest you possible weren't actually in competition with them. Not good PR for them. Hope it works out elsewhere for you.

Fields would ahve no gripe with you per se. It is with the centre management who have done little to beef up the centre.

Whilst you may not pose a treath, the fact that you traded would set a precedent and the centre management could use this as a way to allow another jewellers in.

Fields would have an exclusivity clause in their lease and like any business they will protect it as not to do so would be very poor on their part.
