How do you sell (or buy for that matter) a bike?

Hey there-trying to selling the bike & upgrading but not sure what the relevant documents are.

Went through the 'silver box' where all the family's important documents are kept but all I could find were navy saving books for long-dead Post Office savings accounts.

I know I signed one or multiple forms when I got the bike, but it was all an exciting haze at the time, and I've no idea what documentation passed hands.

    Any ideas?

I've got a guy coming to look at said bike tommorrow evening. He's foreign with poor English, so I'll probably be able to pass off one of the aforementioned Post Office savings book as the relevant document, but obviously that's not the ideal first choice option, morally or practically.

Is it old, or recent ?

If recent, you're looking for a Vehicle Registration Cert...........this would have been sent to you by the tax office - you wouldn't have got it from the previous seller.

It's A5 size, light grey/blue, with a Harp on the front..........

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Wrong.

Factory restricted bikes like the Suzuki Bandit 600 don't come with a restriction cert.

Wrong. Restriction certs are available on request from the manufacturer. Even if in practice most people dont have them. In the case of Suzuki, and maybe others, the model code has a U in it to indicate factory restriction.

The VLC form youre looking for is reminiscent of a phone bill. So its easy to miss.

    Yes as above,:)

If you have a VLC for a car or anything the bike one looks the same,A a4 page folded in half.

cool yeah have that around somewhere.

As I recall it's a blue piece of crappy paper, as it's shop restricted.

    Looks incredibly easy to fake!

P.S found the tax form/ownership doc thing!
