    I've been there a few times now, the main cities and the second hand camera markets are generally all russian cameras, the prices go up when they see you go in the door ( just like anywhere else ) there is value to be had in certain places but you need a polish friend to help you haggle... I found some pre ww2 folders german classics in good condition .........

    so in summary it ain't paradise and there are a few good buys but a lot of work to find... especially some of the older russian lens that age interestingly by going brown on the glass, jupiter being a typical brand where coating does this over time

    I'm over and back to Poland regularly. The best shops are Fotojoker which you'll find in most of the major malls, or MediaMart which is a ridiculously big electronics chain. Prices are obviously far less than what's charged here, but language barriers will prevent staff from explaining any features, so make sure you know what you want before you go.

    Oh thanks SlidingInfinty. I've been to Poland about 15 times now :eek: and to be honest what I've found hasn't been great. Most camera shops sell modern gear and while it's a little cheaper it's not hugely so. Hunting around on the net you'll find deals as good if not better. Perhaps there are some great shops but I've not found them yet.

    The best place to pick up a Polish deal is a website called www.allegro.pl, this is essentially the Poles version of eBay. While they do have a Polish eBay most people actually use Allegro.

    The downside is that it's in Polish so unless you have someone to help you it'll be pretty much impossible to use. However if you do have someone who can help you
    >>> Bargain City. Lots and lots and lots of cool vintage cameras for next to nothing. I recently picked up a Fed5 rangefinder for the princely sum of €20.

    cool thanks everyone, ye I have a polish friend over there, luckily because I only know 1 polish word!

    Ill be going to warsaw,wroclaw,poznan and lodz

    would be nice if I found a good cheap fisheye, I just bought another canon eos 300v so thats 3 film slr's I have now, Im fed up not being able to use one because I dont have the right film loaded. I had a very nice fuji medium format rangefinder that I sold on before I used but I wouldnt mind having a 35mm rangefinder. medium format is not an option at the moment because my scanner wont do it.

    Ive 28mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm, 80-200mm, auto focus slr x2, manual(auto+exposure)slr, dslr;

    so fish eye and rangefinder would give me most of what is needed for 35mm photography

    I read somewhere you can make a 35mm format tilt and shift lens out of a medium format lens and spare lens mount, could be a nice project

    If you're in Lodz, go to Galleria shopping mall. Up at the top is Mediamart, and down at the bottom is Fotojoker. There's lots of other gadgets shops there too including an Apple store. Well worth the visit.

    Take in Manufaktura too, it's a ridiculously big shopping centre in an old cotton mill, there's some gadgets shops there. There's one in the courtyard outside, RTV inside, and another one which deals with computers (Can't remember the name) near RTV also.

    I'm Polish.I don't know much abou old stuff like FED's but if you want to buy SLR,there is one place,it's called cyfrowe.pl and that's e-shop with best bargains there.I ordered lenses week ago for example.There's no translation online but if someone will be interested in buying somethin I can check prizes for people here.I was wondering about that only one word he knows is kurwa?:D

    I forgot,if you want to buy something older you gonna have to faind out where the old markets are,there's always lots of that kind of candies over there and they are always in big cities in particular days,omg it's so obvious...
