I applied at the start of September, i rang last week and the woman said my application has been sent to Carlow and someone should call to the house soon for an interview, and if i'm accepted for the allowance i should start getting it after xmas. Don't suppose you know if there's back pay from when you sent in your application or what's the story?

The interview will be conducted by a social welfare inspector and it is a means test assessing your means for qualification. If you are deemed to be within the means and you also meet the medical criteria for eligibility (which can be assessed by being called for a medical assessment in the DSFA) you will be awarded DA and you are entitled to backpayment from date of application.

They normally do. If you are stuck for money, talk to your local community welfare officer.
