    This.

Anecdotes aren't necessarily very useful though.

It's a sample of 1 in fairness. If he asked the same question about Cervelo he could be pointed to Raam's one falling apart.

They are good bikes with a good reputation.

It's very difficult to argue with you when you're agreeing with me.

I own an Orbea acqua. Very comfy bike. Reasonable value. Weighs in at 9kg with Ultegra. Could get lighter with better wheelset.

As pointed out in the thread above it has developed a fault. But in fairness this could happen to any bike. Thats why there are warranties.

Stagg are a nice shop and have been very easy to deal with thus far. The model I have is an Aluminium model I got as a winter trainer.

If you want something more high end, both Ballyhoura and Cantalch have the Orbea Orca models afaik.

Riding this for 4 months now
    picture.php?albumid=339&pictureid=4228

Onix with Ultegra .... I put my own wheelset on it - Open Pros on Ultegra hubs.

By the way, it started with ordering it in SRAM Rival .. but there was going to be a 4 - 6 week delay to get it after ordering ... then it went to Centaur ... and then finally to Ultegra as they had a white one readily available in my size.

On the Bike - A pleasure to ride. I was out of the country for a couple of months so I wasted the summer not riding it. I have put nearly 2000kms on it so far. Really enjoyable. Everything was very stiff to start with ... but bearings have slowly loosened up and Mr. Skeff's servicing 3 weeks back helped a lot. It didn't come assembled very well as Mr. Skeff caught a few glaring faults especially installation of cranks ... and I was disappointed that Stagg didn't catch them either. The sizing on the bike will probably work if your body is average ... what I mean is that I am 5ft9 but have a 34inch inseam ... the stretch to the handlebar was too much on a 57cm, but the position too aggresive on a 54cm ... so I am riding a bike carbon bike with a stack load of spacers and a 60mm stem ... completely turning a euro bike on its head. The bike came with Shimano RS20 wheels which I sold back to Stagg themselves as I didn't trush the Shimano ones with my commute having had previous bad experience. The only downside so far has been that white has been a pain in the butt to keep clean .. so I have given up on that for winter.

On the shop - Stagg were a pleasure to deal with. Jimmy spent time with me after closing his shop in the evening to get the fit right and also when I went to pick up the new bike. They also took my older bike in part exchange giving me more than I thought I would get for it. But very little in way of price negotiation or free stuff thrown in ... either because of abundance of people buying in B2W scheme or the fact that I had a trade in.

Edit: Get it if you want an bike from a basque socialist company ... if you just want a value for money bike, I am sure there are better ones at a cheaper pricepoint.

thanks for the replies. I like ur Onix model short circuit. Thats what i would probably go for. Nice looking bike and i like the idea of the life time warrant. how much did that model cost

ROK ON did you get a new frame your one broke, was there any problem getting the replacement from Orbea. Its nice reading about these warranites but its good to hear first hand experience.

Here is my one, it's the top of the range Orca model (although in the last year the have released the exact same frame with a different paint scheme and apparently the usual "x % lighter and x % stiffer". The main real difference is the colours and a different seat clamp. I still love mine to bits!). I got it second hand about half a year ago and I just think it's fantastic! Really, it was such an upgrade from my previous bike and I have it down to 7.18 kg now...I raced it competitively a lot this season and it performed even better than I expected (although the nice Corima wheels make up for some of that too!) I also remember reading that Orbea are one of just a handful of bicycle manufacturers who actually offer a lifetime warranty on all their frames - now I think that is impressive and really tells me a thing or two about them. I'm definitely impressed with it and would highly recommend it to others (was it the Giro or Vuelta where 3 or 4 teams were riding them? So popular in the peleton I'm surprised the haven't caught on so much - YET! Especially with it's good looks, in my opinion anyway)

I think you can start from around 1800 euro and to all the way up to 3000 depending on the components you choose ... that is one good thing about the Orbeas .. even if you have a 6 week waiting period .. you can pick and choose your groupset, wheels, compact/standard/triple .. colour etc.

Talk to Jimmy ... Orbeas are still one of the cheaper bikes to be bought in an LBS for a given configuration.

Stagg Cycles are the Irish distributer for Orbea ..
A LOT of the LCRC Senior A1 / A2 Team will be on Orbea in 2012

I was wondering why a two year old thread was being revived. But a nod is as good as a wink. I'll have some of that "Orbea" alright.

There's no flies on old MWAP.
