Cannot send SMS with iPhone 3G Meteor

    Hello I am new to this forum.
    my iPhone3G doesn't let me send SMS. But I can receive them.

    please help :)

    if that doesnt work check in your txt options that the Message centre number (SMSC) is +353857000000

    (i assume you do have credit if your payg... for your sake ! ;))

    I tried to reset all Settings : done but same issue
    Regarding the Message center number, where do I input that?

    i dont know mate...
    with my degree in computer engineering, and many years experience with electronics, and working in the mobile industry at the moment... i would just keep hitting buttons until i find it.

    good find. google ftw :)

    check what smsc you are using before you change it obviously.

    the smsc is the server in your phone company that the sms messages go to so they are routed to the other person (like the mail server in email)

    i would have assumed that it would have been fixed up automatically though.

    it works. I had to set the message center using that code in the SMS app
    **5005*7672*0857000000#

    for some reason there was a different number for the Meteor message center. So I changed it but it would not work with the prefix. Just with the code written bellow

    Just out of curiosity how easy did you find getting the phone broken and unlocked over to meteor? Thinkin about doin it but reading all the tips its seems there is a lot to do?

    It's really easy, I jailbroke and unlocked mine a few weeks ago with BlackRain, took me about 20mins. You have to input some settings manually to get data working with Meteor, these can be found here on Boards or in the Meteor forum. Have had no problems, everything works perfectly on Meteor PAYG (except visual voicemail but even O2 dont have that)
