Clubs and Societies are currently looking for ideas for a potential new common logo. There's been a competition setup in order to help generate ideas.

The competition, which runs until Thursday of Week 10 (the 12th of November) is open to anyone and is more focused on generating idea concepts rather than necessarly the quality of the submission.

If you wish to find out more the website is: http://competition.skynet.ie/

Did I mention there's over €500 in prizes!

The competition is being run by the Computer Society and Clubs+Socs Exec under the auspices of ULSU Clubs and Societies.

There has been a discussion at C&S Council since last year about a common brand/logo for clubs and societies.

The previous c&s exec had pushed the idea and this semester a small number of ideas have been floated (most notability, wULfhounds).

People (at council) have commented that it's hard to decide on a logo without a variety of different concepts to chose from.

It had been suggested to run some sort of competition in order to generate other potential ideas for the concept of a common logo... hence the competition.

When you say concepts, do you mean visual, or written ideas or...? (Sorry if this is a stupid question!!)

    That hasn't been 100% defined.

A well thought out written concept would have to be considered for the 'ULSU prize' - The event was originally going to be called a logo competition, but on the basis of input from c&s exec it's a branding competition. If you wish to infer anything from that...
If you want to contact clubs&socs exec you'd be able to get a better answer as the two prize funds are being awarded separately. http://competition.skynet.ie/contact/

Speaking as a committee member for the computer society, I can say that since we were originally going to run a logo competition, I would feel that any prizes awarded by us (the €50 in HMV vouchers) will be on the basis of aesthetics of a graphical design.
