The Bargain Thread?

Just an idea that's been floating around my head. From speaking to Berty that other day about Skoda pricing, I found he wasnt aware of extra discount available on one this month.

So, maybe a thread on here highlighting special offers like scrappage discounts, registration bonuses etc might highlight a potential saving for a Boardsie?

For example, there's an Extra €1000 off Skoda's for the Month of November. Its a big saving to anyone who didnt know about it!

We could also throw in servicing offers, offers on cleaning products, tyres, etc etc.

There's lots of us in the trade in here, so it should be hard to hear about special offers.

    Any ideas?

There already is one for cars, its called "Bangernomics" :)

I tried a similar thread some months ago but it petered off.

Think DrummerBoy wants to aim this more at people in the car dealership type trade though to make people aware of what they can get off new cars and when

Thats more aimed at cheap, old cars.

Not just for cars, but for everything motor related. Tyres, parts, accessories whatever. The extra discount off a particular car is just an example of what could go into it.

It seems that there's always people looking for the best value parts, or where to get this or that for x price. Might be a handy place to stick up a bargain if you see one floating around!

    Sounds like a good idea.

Especially coming into the New Year with people looking to trade up.

Great idea. What Car has 2 page spread on the best deals every month. Why not do the same here?

Thats what I was thinking of. Something along the lines of that, to highlight good deals, or bargains.

    Top idea :)
With Christmas approaching Halfords (not a fan of them but they have good bargains at times) have some reductions. Not a bad tool set for the DIY chap. The Halfords tools are good quality, I bought a similar set 2 years ago. Would make a good present

That seems like a good socket set for the money RoverJames. I got a small basic set in Halfords for 20 quid some time back and it seems to be pretty good. I believe they are Draper tools in disguise which is a reputable enough brand.

Top notch idea for a thread Drummerboy08. I've nothing to add to it myself for the moment but I'm always on the look out for a bargain so will add it to the thread if I do see any!

Hi, I was in Halfords Saturday & saw that they have 20% off Castrol products.

Earlier that day I did a bit of a shop around for 10w40 Magnatec & 5w30 EDGe (two different cars). I (stupidly) assumed that Halfords would not be the cheapest.
I also had an AXA insurance card which allows a further 15% off (to add insult to injury!)

    Semi Synthetic

So the 10w40 worked out at €26 (or €22.10 with AXA discount card!) for 4 litres.
The next cheapest I found for Magnatec 10w40 was €30.
    (BTW Opieoils.co.uk were £26STG + del)

    Fully Synthetic

Then the 5w30 worked out at €56 (or €47.60 with AXA discount card!) for 4 litres.
The next cheapest I found for EDGE 5w30 was €50
    (BTW Opieoils.co.uk were £44.99STG + del))

The 5w30 seems to be a little dearer than any of the other fully synthetic grades too for some reason.
    Hope this helps someone.

For anyone looking for cheap tyres, check out Ulster Tyre Depot in Ballybofey.

They're Nankang tyres, but my god they are cheap if your seriously stuck.

Prices start from €44 per tyre for a 16" wheel. Prob not the greatest quality tyre, but there are a lot of people stuck for cash at the minute who'd jump at these.
