What has happening? Has he fallen out of favour over his backstage tiff with Taker about clothes?

This guy was involved in one of the best if not best feud of the year with Jeff Hardy and now he is feuding with a ref and so far off the card at the next PPV

Didn't someone else say that the clothes thing was false? That Taker himself requested having the match on first?

Either way, the only thing I can think is that they're building to something. Possibly CM Punk in a Survivor Series match with Armstrong as the ref, and Punk loses again. After that, Teddy Long and Vince would start getting involved. I have no idea whats going on though, but the fact that CM Punk is in a storyline (no matter how daft it is) seems like they've something planned. I mean, this all started at Breaking Point. Since then we've had Hell in a Cell and Bragging Rights. They have to be building to something. God only knows what

yeah they might just want to keep him on tv regularly until the royal rumble, which he must be favourite to win

They could even do kinda the opposite of Royal Rumble 2000 where Big Show had to get evidence to prove Rocks feet hit the floor first. Have Punk almost thrown out, but Scott Armstrong says he's eliminated. Then Punk has to prove his feet never hit the floor

But yeah, barring the return of Edge or Jeff Hardy, I'd say Punk will win it

I don't think Jeff will be out of prison by Royal Rumble time :p

And it's looking less likely that Edge will return at Royal Rumble too, it's only two months away and the injury he got takes a hell of a long time to recover from..

was reading the other day that at the moment it is not looking like he will even make 25th Anniversary WM (Its this year, not last year....hrumph) so I would say it is certain that he will miss the Rumble.

Unless Jericho is still in before the 30th man gets announced - then Edge is back in a Cena like moment of unoriginality from the WWE.

I doubt they'll do that, because if Edge does come back, they're obviously teeing up a feud with Jericho (who's more being used as a fill-in to make certain titles - tag/intercontinental - look worthwhile again). Winner of the rumble, of course, goes into a programme for the heavyweight or world title...

On topic, it's hard to know what they're going to do with CM Punk until they become convinced he's a draw. Obviously I'd love to see him beat 'taker to see him out at WM. However, the way his title reigns have played out, I get the impression that he's a little too unconventional for the WWE bookers.

Punk v Cena as a result of a Royal Rumble win is the way to cement Punk as a real superstar.

They could do HHH v HBK on the same card with Jericho and Taker or edge to guarantee people wouldn't complain about the card.

Putting aside the fact that Punk is an asshole, he stilll deserves a decent run with the belt.

    This = Great Mania,
As for the Royal Rumble, It could be any upper midcarder or they might just waste it and give it to an established main eventer again.

Yeah, but technically, Wrestlemania 2 was the 1st Anniversary of Wrestlemania. Which means Wrestlemania 3 was the second Anniversary

Therefore, Wrestlemania 25 was the 25th Wrestlemania, but it was the 24th Anniversary of the first Wrestlemania

Yes. Wrestlemania 26, which is the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania

I vote we call it Wrestlemania 2009

    EDIT: Also, regarding Punk,
CM Punk is on Ortons SS team. Hopefully it means they're just giving him something to do until this ref thing kicks into full gear

Drew Hankinson (a.k.a. Festus) is still under contract to World Wrestling Entertainment, but sitting at home because creative has nothing for him. He has not appeared on television since June. There had been discussions of pairing him with CM Punk on SmackDown as a bodyguard, with the storyline being that he behaves the way he does because he's always heavily medicated. It would have then been revealed that Punk got him off drugs and made him Straight edge.

Sounds like a nice storyline in the making.

That wouldn't have been half bad. Good way to give Punk an advantage and also good way to help Festus get rid of that awful gimmick and become more credible
