    Hi people of Boards.

NO WINTER IS NOT GREAT! It's cold and wet and windy(er than the rest of the year).

I have just purchased a few Canterbury Baselayers from this website at a fraction of the price. the shipping to Ireland is 9.99GBP, however the savings are worth it.

Thought you might want to have a look anyway :)

All these threads are getting me hot and bothered about base layers (sorry).

I already have a couple of Canterbury ones which suit me perfectly for both cycling and rugby, so justifying a new one is hard

Might have to start dropping hints about a nice merino 1 for Christmas

Are base layers essential or just useful (commuting or longer jaunts?)

They're good baselayers but I think they are proportioned to suit a rugbyer's build better than a cyclist's.

I have an LARGE ionx that should be plenty big for me (40-42 chest according to the chart) but it has comically short sleeves leaving me with needlessly chilly wrists. Woe. This is probably due to the fact that a a rugby player with a 39" chest (like mine) is both a) unusual and b) about 5'4". I'm 6', and most rugby players my height probably have chests closer to 50" than 40".

I think it's the place beside Joe Duffy motors on the N2/M20 junction near Finglas. Never realised there was a Sportsworld there.

When is the, Mid Layers ,thread war going to start?

Well nothing is essential. I didn't use them for a long time. They do help with temperature regulation and layers give you flexibility. You can wear them under a jersey whether LS or SS depending on the weather. As a result of having base layers, I don't need so many LS jerseys- change the base layer but reuse the jersey.

I was skeptical of them at first. But I don't cycle or excercise without one now. I use the nike cooling ones in the summer also, I don't like the feel of cycling jerseys next to my skin.

I've notice this with Cantebury too, the arms are slightly short. but not enought to annoy.
