    Hi,

Does anyone know a good place in Dublin to get a guitar setup, and how much it'd cost? I've only been here for about a month now so I don't really know the area none too well. The guitar's a Fender jaguar HH if that makes any difference.

    Thanks, Laurie

To tell you the truth Laurie ,you should take time out to set up your own guitar thats what i do ,because no one knows your own preference better than yourself .

feyla I got his name out of a local music shop and I have used him before to get work done on my guitars! He did a good job for a fair price so I thought he was worth a mention! I have no affiliation with the website sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I would set it up myself but bitter bitter experience (and a few scars) has taught me that i shouldn't be allowed within 20 square miles of even the most basic tools, I guess I'll just ring round the music and see who could do what

Guy who does it in xmuisc is ok. i find him a bit pricey though, and he wont do any work in front of you. last time i asked if he would do it in front of me, so i might learn something, he laughed and said no way, as he cant go giving away trade secrets!

I just set it up myself now. takes a bit longer, but all the "trade secrets" are available free online, you learn vital skills for a guitarist, and you save money!

Derek Nelson, awesome as he may be is overkill for a setup. he is a world class Luthier, and has a waiting list of a month or more. he is also very pricey( although you do get your money's worth).

you are better just taking your time and doing it yourself. Go slowly and follow the instructions online. there are some great vids on youtube showing you exactly what to do. you will learn a lot.

You speak the truth definitely .You are better getting someone (if you dont want to d it yourself) who is really good at modding guitars to do it .I have a buddy in belfast actually .The female singer (Ditzy) knocked over the guitar and the neck was in crap .The guy seen me in trouble came on stage ,he told he could do the setup in 5 mins .Went back to his workshop set it up in 5 mins back to gig and he only charged me 5 sterling !.best setup I ever had.
