Anyone going to see this? From looking at the trailer it looks like a modern day death wish.

I am looking forward to this. Michael Caine looks to be back:)

My first thought when I saw the trailer was that it looked like a cross between Death Wish and Gran Torino. Hopefully more of the latter than the former, and Caine is always good value

I've heard good things and bad things about this, so I'm not sure whether to look forward to it or not. I usually enjoy Michael Caine movies so hopefully it's not one he did to pay the bills.

    I think it looks brilliant.
Nothing beats a good revenge movie.

    Can't wait to see it.

    Hey,
Went to see Harry brown a few hours ago. Too tired to give a review but it was excellent. However the violence in it was very graphic. The all 3 girls and one guy left with over half an our left. Some of them felt physical ill because of what they saw on screen. I saw other women that were in the cinema leave before the half way point.
This is the first time I have seen so many pople leave before the end.I was surprised as it is one of the best movies I have seen this year.
So has anyone else on here seen it and did this happen where you were watching it?

No one walked out but there were a lot of 'oh my gods' and screeching behind me - tbh had I known the ending beforehand I would have walked out after the
scene where he buys the gun off the junkies and ends up torching the place
as I'd probably seen the best of it. Still, worth watching for ****s and giggles - just that the trailer made promises the film didn't live up to; soundtrack is exceptional though.

We went to see it and no one left during, nor was there any yelps or screams..

When we got out though, there was this 60 odd year old man and his wife walking in front of us and he had his hand inside his jacket like he had a gun. He looked at us when we were walking out and said (smilingly) "You want some?!"

    Was hilarious

    It's rated 18, in fairness....

When I went to see it, there was a large amount of older people (50s and 60s plus) in the audience, much more than normal it seemed. The draw of Michael Caine perhaps. Not one person left that I noticed.

Is it really violent, graphically so? If I go to see it, the missus will be with me and if she doesn't enjoy it, I won't either.

It is violent, yeah. Graphic, but not necessarily gratuitous, if that makes sense.

A lot of quite brutal beatings, shootings, stabbings.

For a complete breakdown try here, but be warned, while they don't give away the plot, it does list every scene of violence in the movie, which might spoil it a bit for you : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1289406/parentalguide

Jaysis, it looks savage, but I can't see the missus liking it. I'll wait until it comes out on DVD or something.

    Thanks for the details though.

How can people leave due to violence? It's Michael Caine FFS???

Maybe his acting made them leave. :)

I saw it and I didn't see any of the violence as being gratuitous. If violence upsets people enough to leave, what the hell are they going to particular films for in the first place? Can they not read? Can't they take 5 minutes to have a quick look at what the film is about and work out for themselves what it's likely to contain? Unless they thought it was just crap in the first place. That's a different matter.

As it was said in the other thread about people walking out, Going to see Brokeback Mountain and walking out at the first sex scene is just sheer braindead stupidity.

I really didn't see what all the fuss was about with that movie.

"I thought it would be a lovely film with that lovely Michael Caine, about nice things Joe, not shooting and killing and things"

"Yeah, yeah, sure, sure, yeah, yeah, and how did that make you feel Marjorie?"

"Well Joe, it's not myself I'm worried about Joe, but there might be children watching it Joe."

"Well now Marjorie, it does have an 18s age certificate."

"Ah but Joe, children might get in anyway, sure they let anyone in to these films. I've personally heard that kindergarten teachers were bringing their classes to see this movie. This sort of thing should be banned."

"God yeah, sure, sure, and here's our next caller, Bridey from Killiney."

Just saw it there, its violent sure, some nasty stuff in it in places, but its more the tone of the movie than the violence, although maybe it'll encourage OAP's to start going all Rambo on the scobes in their neighbourhoods, wont someone think of the children etc etc

Maybe the patrons were shocked cos it felt more believable than the usual Hollywood glossy tripe. Those streets look just like here after all.

has anyone gone to see this film yet. if not its amazing and defo worth it.

Saw it and thought it was excellent. On a basic level you could call it a British Gran Torino, though it is far grittier and violent then said film. Caines character embraces rather then deplores violence, though he shares many of the same characteristics as Walt...ex-military, to name one influential one.

Top notch film anyway, well worth the watch. Some great supporting actors in there as well.
