I have both an xbox 360 and a PS3 and was wondering if you think i should get a Wii. There is a current deal in xtravision and it seems very good value it is:

219.99 euro for the console, sports accessory pack, wii sports resort, 20 euro worth of game vouchers, and 1 of the following games Dead Space Extraction, FIFA 10, Tiger Woods 10, Harry Potter, My sims racing or sims agents

This seems like a very good deal. I rarely play the PS3 i usually watch it for DVDs but the games i most play are FPS and sports like call of duty and fifa, i know its hard to judge wether i would lie one but do ye think the wii would be worth getting?

With the type of gamer you are it's hard to recommend a Wii to you. If you want a Wii you've got to really look for the good games beyond the first party nintendo titles and most of those games are a bit different to the FPS and sports games you would be used to. I'd recommend it to some one who enjoyed a wider spectrum of games.

I don't really think you should bother OP, FPS and straight up sports games are done better on the other consoles you already own. There is a much wider choice of your type of game on the other 2 consoles.

if you are a sociable person with friends who come over a lot to your place then the wii is worth having as it's great in that scenario as even people who wouldn't touch a conventional console love playing on the wii. otherwise, seeing as you have an xbox and a ps3 already there is no point really as there are very few wii-exclusive games that are standout titles.

having never had a Gamecube I find myself using the wii for old GC games like metroid prime, Resident Evil & Zelda
quite a lot and there plenty of good games I haven;t played yet across both platforms

I've been enjoying having a Wii much more than the Gamecube I had before it. Partly that's because I now have a morning routine built around Wii Fit (and as of today Wii Fit Plus :D) but also partly because the Wii's big selling point, for me, was the control system.

For the kind of games you're talking about, I don't think the Wii-mote control system is going to make that much of a difference. Thus, it's probably not worth it. That said, if you try out the likes of Wii Sports/Sports Resort and Links Crossbow Training, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles or Dead Space Extraction, you may find you like it.

Overall, I don't think it's a console you'll particularly enjoy playing. I would urge you to actually try out the likes of De Blob, though, it's impossible to properly explain what's fun about it in words adequately - you have to just spend fifteen or twenty minutes messing around with it.

I have a Wii and absolutely love it. But in all honesty, the type of games you mention are generally better on PS3/360, so buying the console just for these probably isn't a good idea, especially as you already have a PS3seems a poor match.

Unless you're interested in the various Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc), are really into the motion control (Wii Sports Resort, some of the recent tennis games) or have kids, you're probably better off sticking with the Playstation. In any of those three cases though, it's a great console. :)

The Wii offers a different gaming experience - one you cannot get on the other two.

I got a Wii the day it came out - I have the other two as well and I still play the Wii.

Just because you like FPS and Sports games does not mean you won't get a buzz out the wii.

I would always recommend all three to anyone who can spare the cash - they all offer something different.
