Cork; looking to meet artsy alt rock musicians

    I really want to get more active in the music scene. I'm a guitarist I have a couple of cool guys I jam with on occasion but I think the more I network the better I develop my skills, and I've decided this is probably the best way to meet new people! I find it extremely hard to meet people with common interests as for Ireland some of the stuff I'm into is a little obscure.

    I'd like to meet various kinds of musicians to jam record or just chat with. In particular I'd like to meet guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, violinists, multi-instrumentalists, female vocalists(need to be more girls in alternative rock music again!). I have some ideas for things I'd like to do; elements of stuff like Smashing Pumpkins and various Shoegazey acts, bits of 80s/90s goth and post punk, electronica & Trip Hop.

    Here's some of the music I've been working on(done in a Tracker for 1 hour compos so it's pretty lo-fi);

    Something like that with guitar and vocals could be nice, though it's not necessarily representative of much.

    At the moment I'm very influenced by Bauhaus, Cinema Strange/Deadfly Ensemble, the Pumpkins, Nomeansno, Miranda Sex Garden, Boom Boom Satellites, Dead Can Dance, Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Ladytron, Lush, Queens of the Stone Age, and various classic and modern rock acts. I really like music that has a bit of an old movie soundtrack influence, or has a bit of a "gothic"(excuse the use of the word) medieval or victorian vibe to it(like Miranda Sex Garden, Faith and the Muse), but also some more modern sounding electro type stuff(I guess a band like Switchblade Symphony, Faith and the Muse or Black Tape for a Blue Girl would be a cross between the two, check them out if you like the sound of that), and general oddball sounding stuff.

    It's tough to find people with the same kind of musical interest except for the more mainstream stuff I've listed, but I think it's worth a shot. I'm pretty bad at explaining what I'm looking here so apologies for the muddled post. If you're into the bands mentioned I'd like to meet up and chat, talk about music and effects pedals and ****, maybe lay down some choons, nothing too formal. It'd be nice to have a network of interesting musicians going, maybe get some interesting bands out of it.
