Want to join the Garda Siochana

Can anyone give me some advice on how to do it
I know you apply on publicjobs.ie then wait for a recruitment campaign and it wont be until 2011
But is there anything to help my chances?
I failed maths in my leaving cert but passed everything else most with honours would this affect my chances?

I think i would like it but can anyone tell me what its really like?
What are the diffrent sections of the Garda Siochana?
If anyone could give me a lot of advice on what goes on on in the day to day events of being a garda i would really appriciate it.

And how promotion works and getting moved to diffrent sections works etc

Not intending to sound overly condescending here but have you done any research at all?

www.garda.ie is one site full with information for starters not to mention the numerous sites with all your questions answered in detail here in the Garda Recruitment and Emergency Services fora also.

There's no need to start a new thread for questions that have been asked and answered numerous times........
There is already a thread for "applying to an garda siochana", you will find you answers in that.
With regards to the goings on of promotion and life in the gardai you will find most people on here are waiting like yourself to either apply or start in Templemore.
I suggest you take time out to read other threads and read through the requirements for An Garda Siochana with regards to education....
Yes it does make a difference if you dont have maths as it is a requirement............
I would however suggest you do register your interest ASAP with publicjobs.ie as soon as site is backup and running and in the mean time go back and get maths in your leaving, the way things are going with this moratorium you will have your maths before the next recruitment drive.

Have a look around, search the forum, and you'll find the answers to the questions you have asked.
