If you have a PS3 it's very easy. Set up a US account with a made up credit card. Then by prepaid PSN point cards from the US on ebay. There's even better PS1 games on the Japanese PSN.

I'm pretty sure it's the same on other pieces of hardware as long as you buy the PSN points unless your PSP is tied to one PSN account.

What retro said, but use a real credit card number. My visa works on the US PSN, as it does for at least one other boardsie

You can buy straight from the US store with an irish credit card, no need to buy the points on ebay.

Yep, some banks check the address to authorise the sale. My Mastercard won't work so i use Entropay as they don't check the address on the sale.

Thanks, I,naively set my account up for the E.U. store. So if I create a new account can I use the same credit card that's affiliated with the E.U. store or do I have to buy points or use a new credit card-(I'm screwed if it's the latter:(). No,PS3 just PSP.

Ah over two and a half years after the systems launch and we still have the weakest PSN store. I just don't understand why we can't have more content as they do on the US and Jap stores. It can't be that hard to add it, are licensing issues holding it up?

    Anyone have any thoughts?

I use the same credit card for both EU and US PSN.

Sony Europe are incompetent. That pretty much sums it up.

Japanese companies always seem to treat European customers like crap. I remember in the days of the Snes, there was a campaign ran by a magazine called Superplay to get Konami to release Mystical Ninja in the U.K. and Ireland. They eventually did.

Its all just bull when it comes to European PS1 games: SCEE claim its up to the publishers to port the games for PSN, even though they put up f all games themselves (wheres Crash Bandicoot 2???????) and then theres the publishers who either:

-dont like money (yeah, Square-Enix/Capcom/Konami: FFIX, Vagrant Story, Suikoden, Azure dreams, Castlevania:SotN, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis and Resident Evil please)
-have lost the master of the Euro versions (happened to Silent Hill apparantly and they cant use the uncensored USA version here)
-the game is tied up in masses of convoluted publishing BS (Team Buddies, one of my fave PS1 games, was made by Psygnosis[now SCEE Liverpool] but publised by both Activision here and Midway in USA)
    -theyre just lazy
-language problems, companies arent going to be bothered re-voicing and translating script for a €5 game if it never got released in other European countries

On my last point, does anyone know if the Spanish, French, Italian, German (even though they have a MASSIVE filter in place on their PSN) get exactly the same content as us or is there as much division between the Euro-Zone pSN's as there is internationally?

I suppose it isn't that bad since it's not like they are stopping us getting them for cheaper and with a wider selection on the US and Jap stores.

    Unlike the Xbox indie games.

Arrggggghhh! I can't do it! I don't know how to log out of my PSN account and how to create a new/U.S. account. Help.:(

On your PS3, create a new user and name it. (My suggestion: American Account). Then log in as that user and sign up for the Playstation Network, selecting the US as your country and Alaska as your state. You should choose Alaska as therefore you won't get charged tax on your downloads. If it wants a post code use : 99501, putting Anchorage as your city. You will have to come up with a new PSN ID for this account. You can't use the same email address as your EU account. Once you've set the account up you can access the US PSN store.

I'm not at a PS3 here but from memory(and I could be wildly wrong) , in XBE or whatever its called (the menu screen you get when you turn the ps3 , scroll as far left as you can , you should see your psn account name and "turn off" or similar above it , select your name , press triangle and seclect log out, I think once you do that you can select a add user , and then create new psn account, put in a US address, "google is your friend here" , I used a hotel I stayed at in the boston but you could use anything I guess.and that should be it.
