Disability and Illness Benefits

When someone is receiving Illness Benefit and it's has become a long term illness how do you know which benefit to apply for?
    i.e-

    Invalidity Pension
(Invalidity Pension is a weekly payment to people who cannot work because of a long-term illness or disability and are covered by social insurance. Normally, you must be getting Illness Benefit for at least twelve months before you claim Invalidity Pension. It may be possible to get Invalidity Pension after a shorter period if you are unlikely to be able to work for the rest of your life because of your illness or disability.)

    Disablement benefit
(If you are unable to work after the accident or disease, you should first claim Injury Benefit, which can be paid for up to 26 weeks after the accident or the onset of the disease. Before your Injury Benefit payment finishes, you should claim Disablement Benefit if you suffer from loss of faculty as a result of your accident or disease. If you do not claim in time, you may lose some benefit. You should claim within three months of your Injury Benefit claim ending.)

    or Disability Allowance

My understanding is that after injury benefit you apply for either Illness Benefit or Disability Allowance and The Invalidity Pension would come in after that? I'm trying to help someone come to a decision but it's very confusing.
I'd be grateful for any advice.

Disablement Benefit is only payable after an accident at work, an accident travelling directly to or from work, or a prescribed disease contracted at work

both Invalidity Pension and Disability Allowance are long term payments
for Invalidity Pension you'll have tosatisfy prsi conditions and Disability Allowance is a mean tested payment.you'll have to pass a medical for both

i would get on to social welfare to see if your entitled to claim Invalidity Pension if not go for Disability Allowance
