    Hi guys,

Were looking into our wedding reception drinks when our guest arrive at the hotel.I wanted to go with a champange reception.the hotel is giving us the option of corkage which works out a lot more cheaper.I just wanted to know which is a nicer champange, pink or clear.im not to in tune with all the different types of champange! We are on a budget and trying hard to stick to it but yet im still trying to keep the reception classy if you know what i mean!if anyone has any names of reasonable priced champange and where to get it would be a great help to.

    thank for your advice:)

Definitely go with the normal champagne not the pink. If you are looking for a decent alternative I would go with the Aldi "Verve Olivier" it costs about €8.99 tastes good and is great value. There is also a a sparkling chardonnay for approx €10.99 that would be nice.
Be careful as there are lots of vile cheap alternatives to champagne.
    Good luck

You'd be better off getting good prosecco or cava than bad champagne.

Def the white - more consistently reliable in my opinion

Or get some Creme du cassis and make Kir Royale- you can do it with Cava or Prosecco aswell (although Cava is best) and it's yummy :)

The verve olivier is a french sparkling wine (chardonnay grape)
The cheapest price for any champagne would be +€20, if you are price concious I would go for the french sparkling wines. Just buy and taste both decide then for yourself
IMO cava is a poor subsitute and although some prosecco can be nice they lack a little in the flavour and are wildly overpriced for what they are.

Or get peach juice and add to Prosecco to make Bellini - yum yum.

Cava, prosecco or champagne - it doesn't really matter. Once it's got bubbles and isn't nasty tasting, everyone will enjoy those happy bubbles.

hmmm champagne..... I found one I loved while I was away, http://media.photobucket.com/image/champagne%20frenzia%20negro/dvanharn/Cordon_Negro.jpg it was only €5 there, love it, but its €15 here, it comes in pink as well so you could almost have a mix of both, last I saw it was in Tescos.

Totally disagree. The sparkling wine may be good but it's not at all true to say cava or prosecco are poor subsitutes. Cheap champagne and alot of cheap sparkling wines are vile and undrinkable. I'd definitely steer clear of cheap champagne unless you know for sure that it's a nice one.

Cava is quite hard to get in Ireland compared to prosecco which seems to have become very popular over the last few years. Dunnes sometimes do a good deal on prosecco with bottles for around €6.

Why not do a taste test with some family or friends. Pick a bottle or two of cava, prosecco and sparkling wine and see which ones they can drink without grimacing.
