I want to connect my external hard drive to my 14" TV (10 yrs old) via this. Does anyone know how movies/clips in mpeg/avi etc will look on the screen? Will there be black bars across the screen or will the clips be stretched?

you can get similar items to this on ebay for 20-30 euro. depending on the way the film was ripped (i.e. settings) then you may have black bars or there may be stretching.
