REGISTERING A .CO.UK DOMAIN NAME.

I know that you need to register your business name before you can register a .ie domain name, but is it possible to register a .co.uk domain without registering a business name in the UK.

I'd hate to do all the hard work here in Ireland only to have someone in the UK copy both my business model and my business name, closing the door on the possibility of me expanding to the UK. Both are available, but the .com has been registered by a business in the U.S selling totally different products than I will be selling.

    Any advice?

.co.uk are a free for all.

You don't need to be registed to get one.

where does one go in order to get a .co.uk for free? also do you need to pay for .org? So to recap here in ireland we pay for a .ie but business' in the Uk can get there domains for free & just pay for the hosting, am I right in saying this?

I would presume jhegarty means anyone can register, rather than its free of charge to get a .co.uk address

Free for all as in anyone can buy one. But you still need to pay.
