At HYPE this week... we welcome two of Dublins House & Techno originals - Francois & Liam Dollard for a special night where the old meets the new... From it's humble beginnings in UCD's student bar, UFO / Alien will be remembered as one of Dublin's most consistent weekly Techno clubs, famously taking place every Friday in Columbia Mills, Sir John Rogersons Quay. Boasting a who's who of local House & Techno DJs each week, it gave many of it's devoted clubbers their first taste of real clubbing. Before, during and after it's closure in the mid nineties the clubs co-founder and resident - Francois was a regular name at almost every Techno night in the city, eventually settling into the Kitchen in the late nineties where he was a regular guest / rotating resident DJ at the excellent Tuesday club - Genius. He then took a break from it all, 'hanging up' his headphones circa 2000[ish]... He comes out of retirement for another one of his rare appearances this Friday at HYPE. Expect new / upfront Techno alongside classic UFO / Alien tuneage.
Also on the bill and no stranger to Dublin clubland is UFO / Alien regular - Liam Dollard. Another Dublin DJ who's name was a constant on Irish flyers back then. These days Liam is enjoying a return to DJing and has proven with recent sets at Kennedys / The Underground & Dame Lane that he is still a great DJ... Expect new House music with an ever so slight nostalgic nod to the past. Dolly on the phone...
