Anyone buy any of have subs to any? My Missus bought me a sub for FSM at the start of the year. Its a good mag, but I am still waiting on the October issue which was due out October 8th. In fact I have never received one within 6 days of it being on the shelves. Defeats the purpose of a sub imo.

Anyway, thats not the point of the thread. What are peoples views on the mags which are available at the moment? Personally, the only 2 I would buy are FSM and Powerslam and even at that Powerslam in general is pure crap.

I made the mistake of buying the Pro Wrestling Illustrated the other day. What awful awful rubbish. It is all written in kayfabe. In this day and age how is that even relevant. It was trying to tell us that Ted DiBiase Jr made a big enemy in his father

    Opinions?

I buy Powerslam only out of habit now, been getting it for years, sometimes its got good interviews and that but Fin Martin is a dickhead, and they need to spend less time publishing snippy comments about who must be on steroids and more time changing the look of the mag, its been outdated for a decade

There was a problem with the subsciptions to the Sept/October issues i believe. Drop Uncookedmedia an email and they should be able to sort you out, they're good that way.
    customerservice@uncookedmedia.com

I'm guessing the delay may be a UK/Ireland thing? My copy generally arrives a couple of days before it lands in the shops.

Oh, and the new issue of FSM is ahem, excellent. There's a GREAT interview with RVD in it..............

Same here, I found it great about 10 years ago when I was just realising that wrestling was worked, but its becoming less relevant with every passing month now.

I had to stop reading Powerslam as it used to annoy me so much.

I may have to give Fighting Spirit another shot though if fellas the calibre of michael etc and Alan4L are writing for it these days.

i usually take a look at powerslam if i am in easons, they had a good interview with rvd a few months back, last month they actually praised john cena saying he had world class delivery, i think i am going to frame it

I've been reading Power Slam for years now and with the exception of the articles written by Matthew Randazzo V I think it's a pretty good read, much better then PWI or any of the propoganda WWE publishes.

When I was younger though I used to buy loads of different mags that aren't around anymore(Slam,WWF magazine, the WCW magazine and even have a ECW one somewhere in my rooom!)

Randazzo? Is he the guy who wrote "Ring Of Hell"? I got about 5 pages into that before putting it down. Utter crap.

I buy Powerslam every few months, I like it and dont understand all the hate towards it, though I wouldn't buy any other wrestling mag so have nothing to compare it to.

Whats FSM and is it anygood?

As for the person that mentioned Pro Wrestling Illustrated, I bought it once about five or six years ago and it had a whole interview with Randy Ortons father talking about his son in a way as if wrestling was real. Have not touched it since and dont plan on it.

Fighting Spirit Monthly. Best of the mags on offer really. Good mix between mainstream, indies and UK based promotions. IWW even got a few reviews and plugs in it.

AWR gets a mention this month too in the Van Dam interview.. and there's more coverage of them coming next month.

Speaking of Powerslam, I'm actually really enjoying Stately Wayne Manor's column now that he's dropped the gimmick.

He was one of the reasons I stopped reading that mag, he really pissed me off.

Yeah it's the same guy, awful book too(ring of hell) and he comes across as a complete and utter tool, dunno why he's writing for PS tbh!

Is FSM the mag that Lance Storm has a column in?
I used to buy that too but hasn't been in any shop round my area in ages,I assumed it went under..

Powerslam isn't too bad but of course it's design is woeful. Looks like they're using some design software from 1999 and never bothered updating. I can't stand any of the kayfabe magazines not because of adherence to the "story" (I enjoy the PWI Top 500 list) but it's as most of them are large commercial American mags usually half the mags are full glossy pictures and no text and pages upon pages of ads.

Ever see the time he tried to auction his autograph a million pounds or some obscene amount.

Total fool of the highest order. It wasn't even prickishly funny just annoying. Haven't got it in a year. Basically the same stuff on the interwebs news-wise

I get FSM and Powerslam, though the latter is more cause I want to support non-kayfabe wrestling magazines in anyway possible.

FSM, in my opinion, is awesome. A great mix of everything. Spot on reviews, great letter pages, articles that are well researched (mostly), and some great guest writers.

Powerslam can annoy me, but it's wrestling, so I'll read it.

Anyone read Alex Shane's columns? I loved his idea this month about the syllabus for wrestling schools. And he made me realise something last week; why are there so many karate schools when no kids watch it as a sport, yet no wrestling schools when it's massive with kids?

I havent read a SWM column in years, what a prick, he posts on UKFF as well and gets torrents of abuse off pretty much every, all well deserved

I used love POW or WOW actually i think it was both

I can completely understand people feeling like this. However, he's gotten very good notices from even the UKFF since he's changed format and dropped the gimmick. He made some good points about Bryan Danielson this month.

If anyone's interested, here's some details on the new issue of FSM. If anyone has opinions on anything in it, or they want to see in it in future, (or what you think is wrong with it), be sure to let me know.. I'd be interested to hear why so many people online seem to have a problem with the current magazines.

Probably because karate and any martial art is great as a form of self-defence and wrestling is not. But overall I agree with your point, it would be great if there were more wrestling schools. Last time I checked the nearest wrestling school to me was near Dublin while I live in Galway. Though that was a few years ago so I'm sure a few more have opened up since.

FSM is by far the best wrestling magazine going...ive bought every issue since issue 3 and enjoyed them all... only problem i have is there so flimsy and pages always seems to fall out or the cover falls off.yesterday i bought the new issue and the middle page fell out after about five minutes of reading :( as a guy who loves to collect westling related things its annoying :(

But honestly with that aside its a great mag with a mix of every thing you need as a wrestling fan!Got a few letters in there before which was cool!

I discovered Powerslam around 1996. It was great before the internet age but it's kinda hard to justify a fiver a month now, especially if you've only a passing interest in wrestling. Though they do try to highlight the other non-WWE stuff and have the odd piece on MMA stuff. They should really get a website going and some kind of tie-in or something. Their review of the WCW DVD was very good mind.

Can't remember what mag it was but I read a Bret Hart interview in one there a while ago and it was a good wee interview. I think he put the HBK/Taker WMXXV match over :p

He actually addressed that point and said it would be pretty easy to incorporate some legit self defence into wrestling classes to keep people happy. Learning moves in a "This is how it legit works and this is how you use it in pro wrestling" wouldn't be hard :)

Just bumping this to let folks know that Issue 48 of FSM is out this week (subscribers might already have recieved it), and it's maybe of particular interest because there's a two-page feature on American Wrestling Rampage in it.

I'll update with a pic or two once they're on online.

Hey... this one's for good reason....

    Do you work with AWR?

Is this PowerSlam the one with Cena on the front? I had a browse through it and the Shane McMahon article seemed pretty good.

No mate- I wrote the American Rampage piece though, so hence the cheap plug.

Powerslam this month does have Cena on the front, and the new FSM has Taker.

I enjoy reading PowerSlam, I've only been reading it for a few years though. I enjoy the interview pieces but the PPV reviews are pretty late coming. Nothing u can do about that lol! My 'gripe' is that if I'm enjoying the mag, I can finish it in a day or 2, and that's it for a month!

Better hope Fin Martin doesn't get sick, the entire mag will shut down :pac::pac:

I quite enjoyed this month's piece on Shane McMahon. Only thing I didn't like was the writer getting snippy about 'if you believe Vince didn't use company money for Million Dollar Mania you're an idiot' although these lads never told us otherwise months ago.

Some people (including myself) didn't know Vince had 95% voting power and renders Shareholders opinions pretty much useless!

    Overall, love the mag.
