We have a springer spaniel that has lost the plot, snarling at us when on his bed, and now jumping on couch and not letting us sit on. any advise?

What age is he? How long have you had him? Is this completley out of character? If do then my guess would be that he is in pain. Get him to walk across the room of you can and see of you notice any lameness.. Is he eating.. Try to distract him with treats and touch him all over to see if her reacts, long into his ears, on the pads of his paws and extend his limbs if he tolerates it.
