Buying a TNT box in France?

Would anyone here know if I went into an electronics shop in France (I'll be over there for a weekend in a couple of weeks) and bought any TNT box would it work here in Ireland? I really want to get something which will give me perfect terrestrial reception and if possible something with a built in hard drive. Basically I'm wondering whether all MPEG4 boxes will work over here or if it's possible that I could buy something which wouldn't work when I got it home.

As far as I know, it has to be TNT HD. Also, without MHEG-5, programming recordings might be a bit of a nuisance.

Simply buy a sagem STD81 picnic box from a currys in NI for 19.99 and you get all what you want execept hard disk.

I don't have one myself, but this unit seems to support MPEG4, and at the price cannot be beat:D

The Sagem receiver was developed for the now cancelled Sky Picnic pay-tv service on UK DTT which planned to use MPEG-4 encoding following Ofcom approval.

That Sagem box is great value but after using my Freesat PVR for the last 1/2 year I've become spoilt and I'd love to have something similar for RTE etc.

Fair enough. I didn't know that. I imagine they'll be popular here in the North West of England from next month.

They will be of little use in the UK Richard as they are DVB-T boxes. Whilst the UK will be using MPEG4 encoding, it will be on the DVB-T2 platform.
