Would love to go to this if I can. Was at the campas and asikainen fights so far.
Id say he's only taking this as his other 2 fights didnt last very long. Before this there were talks of fighting Pirog (his mandatory) early 2010 and that could still happen early enough provided there is no cuts or mis haps on the 5th of December.

Its a very smart move imo. Macklin stays active and raises his profile in Ireland as the european champ just weeks after Andy Lee fights in Limerick. Perhaps Peters / Hatton could look to get Macklin in line for a world title and position Lee in the top 15 of that bodies ranking list.

We could get to see a series between Macklin, Lee, Duddy and Moore yet.
Moore is moving to middleweight after losing to Rhodes and says he wants a rematch with Macklin. I would like to see it for a world title if possible.. what a fight it would be!!!

Put any of those guys in the ring together, I dont see a bad fight anywhere!!

to be honest, not too keen to see any of the irish against each other yet. a loss could well put one of them out of the frame for a higher profile fight. it'd be better if the three, or four now, could push for fights against other top 20 opponents, it'd raise their profile and boxing's profile even more in ireland. then, a good while down the long maybe have an all-irish bout.

Just seen him on the late news on rte2. He said he's in talks with Pavliks people and also with Sebastian Sylvesters so if all goes well he'll be fighting one of them for a world title in the summer.

Id love to see one of them get their hands on a world title and have a collins/eubank/benn etc type of affair. That would boost their profile certainly in Ireland and sure they could have fights in the uk as well particularly in the midlands / north west of england.

Wouldnt it be great if over the course of the 3 years 2 of the lads got their hands on a belt and you could have unifciations and all.

RTE could show a fight every 2 months or so featuring at least one of the fighters allowing the others to keep fighting in other locations like the uk, europe, or usa.

Do any of you guys think Macklin stands a chance against Pavlik? I can't see it myself.
