Possible Dream Weekend or Dissapointment- Advice

I know Miss Y for 6 years or so. Never very close- but always got on really well. We share some interests and used to bump into one another sometimes.

I always had a thing for her, thinks she is beautiful, smart and interesting and I kind of admire her. We used to flirt a little, she was going out with someone for a long time. We always got on in each others company- but never entered the ‘friends zone’ as in she is not a close friend and we don’t know each other that well really. But nothing every really happened between us. :(

She moved to a western European capital two years ago. Now my and her life has moved on- I had relationships on and off over the past 6 and over the last 2 years- and although there has always been a part of me that thought that I really wished something had happened- I never massively pined for her or anything like that.

However we started emailing quite regularly about a year ago. We met for a coffee in Cork in the summer when she was on a very short trip back- had a cool few hours and it really rekindled my interest. She invited me across to visit her.

I left it for a while - but after another emailed invite, I have decided to go on a long weekend over to stay with her.

Now I have a dream scenario in my head that this weekend will see me whisk her off her feet and it will go super, romantic meals, long walks and ......... But also she might just regard me as a mate- and is just a bit lonely and is looking forward to spending some fun time with me. I don’t mind the latter- but I would really love the former!

I know she is currently single, but I am sure she has men interested in her over there.

Any tips on how I approach this? Do I ‘make a move’ on the last night? But I make a 'move' and it is shot down could be a bit awkward staying there for rest of trip! How do I make sure I don’t enter the ‘friend zone’ at the start of the visit? Anyone been in a similar situation?

We are both in our very very late 20’s :)

Surprised no-one got back to you on this.

    The facts are:
You know each other for a long time
    You really like each other
She likes you so much she's invited you over to her place for the weekend

Why worry? Have a good time. Make sure she knows that you're single, and looking and open to offers. Then crack open the wine or beer and have the craic. Whether she likes you enough to take it further is down to how you are to be with. So relax, be yourself and have fun. that's what seduction is.

I've been there myself, but be careful not to get too stuck in your dream scenario. Nothing ends up like your dreams, so don't expect things to go as you're planning. Once you put your dream to one side and focus on just enjoying your time with this girl, anything could happen. :D

Just be sure she's single. Nothing will take the wind out of your sails like thinking she's single and you start to think about making a move and she throws out some line like "I met someone".

I'm not saying that you shouldn't go for it. All I'm saying is don't get your hopes all built up and then get cut off at the knees just as you are gearing up to make a move.

Good luck and I hope it works out :)

If it happens it happens- if not, sure move on- a new year is coming :)...so much easier to write that than live it ;)
