Deploying iphone apps only to select people?

Hi guys, our company wants to start making iphone apps but only to our customers. Most of them are big medical companies.

I can see a problem with this though. The iphone apps have to be public and this just isn't possible as there could be very sensitive information inside.

Is there anyway to deploy apps not via the app store and to only invited people?

You'll have to contact Apple about creating a corporate developer account. You can then publish apps internally without having to deal with the App Store.

Thanks mate. Not ideal by any means though.

Well if you're going to be dealing with less that 100 devices, you could use a standard developer account and deploy them ad-hoc. Only problem is you can't go over 100 devices and you can only remove devices on the list once per year.

ah right cheers man. It just means our company would have to get the customers iphones and manually put the app(s) onto them. Ideally (which I tink is impossible) we would want it to be available in the app store but in a private sectiont hey could onyl get to by a specific link or something.

It's a shame apple made the app store completly public.
