Moral Dilemma - vote?

So, I went to Electric Picnic this year. Before going I ordered 24 cans for €60, which were thoroughly enjoyed. On returning and checking my credit card bill, I saw 2 payments were taken for €60 on one day - one marked as "electricpicnic", the other as "com". I immediately assumed this was a double charge, so e-mailed the organisers, later to realise that this was a separate purchase charged correctly.

Now, 2 months later, the organisers have replied apologising for the delay and asking for bank account details to transfer my refund to. Obviously, I now have the choice of being honest and explaining that it was my mistake, or keeping schtum and taking the mulla.

I'm not going to say what I'm going to do - just interested in how many people would do which?

Why do they need your bank A/C details? I would think they would be able to refund it to your card?

I'd contact them and explain that you made the mistake. I'm an honest person :)

You could wager that they are not losing any sleep over charging you 200 euro plus to camp in a rainy field watching a bunch of ****e bands. Just take the money and give it to charity or a publican or something.

Karma is a nasty auld bitch!! I'd leave it myself, no such thing as a free thingy-me-bob and all.

As above. Why do they need your bank details? Do they not have your card details already if they charged it?

I'd tell them and not take the money.

If it's not rightfully yours, don't take it - Karma will come back and bite you in the ass.

There's no such thing as karma. Taking or leaving it ain't gonna make bad things happen to you in the future. In saying that, don't take it. It's robbery.

I don't think people get this karma thing.

Karmas going to spend most of your life biting you in the ass, not because you did anything to deserve it, but just because karma's a cunt.

It's karma everytime you step in a puddle, everytime you drop your toast only for it to land butter side down, and everytime you talk about what a dickhead your boss is only to realise he's behind you listening.

This is your chance to bite karma in the ass. Take it.

i wouldnt take it, tbh, would initially seem like a good idea but i know it would start to bother me at some stage, and id then end up donating the same amount to charity.

I wouldn't take it at all. Many instances of me being completely honest with a seller has gone my way just for being honest (buying one, getting two, informing seller, keeping second item). Of course there are times when the seller says thanks and that's that. Either way I know I'm being honest and I'm very happy knowing that.

Fair point! But they asked for my bank account details OR my postal address to send a cheque, so think it's safe enough. Will go with postal address though just in case!

I kinda go with the Karma idea. If you must take the money, give it to Movember or Santa Strike force or some other charity.
