I thought I'd share the results of a recent experiment.
I tried to get a computer to compose music, as in chose notes, timings and
structure based on established rules of music, mixed up with a little randomness.

I chose one of the better results and my self and a friend performed it.

Constructive comments and suggestions would be really appreciated, as I want to improve the algorithm to make better music...

Can you upload it to vimeo or youtube? I'm very curious to hear it. Writing a thesis on generative music at the moment, coincidentally.

You can find my thesis on it here:

Take what you want, I'm not in university anymore :)
You'll also find some example music there too.

    Far out.
I've just written my first program doing that in C. In fact I posted here
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055746649 about it.

Downloaded the thesis and had a quick scan through it. Music sounds great though. I'm looking at taking up algorithmic composition in the next semester.

Good to see there's some other people doing it too, no sign of a thesis idea for me yet though...
