Folks im just wondering,Been on JSB now since last December, the end of it, and i was told or heard that you can only stay on it for a year and the you have to switch over to job seekers allowance.

My question is is this true??
And also would there be a long wait to get on job seekers allowance after been on job seekers benefits for a year.

Im just worried as its coming up to xmas.

They should send you a letter in the post a few weeks before your credits exhausts and then you should apply for JSA straight away.

No you have to go for a means test and it'll be a few wks before you get anything, you could always go to your community welfare officer for payment until you get your JSA.You have'nt got any letter yet no?

Some SW offices really don't send any letter to you to advise that JSB is coming to an end. You just turn up at PO and there's no or little money. Best to get geared up now, go into SW, fill the JSA form, find out what paperwork they need for the means testing and supply it.

Went in to the Dole office today and ive got forms to fill out to switch over.Ive got three forms with alot to fill out.

The lady on the desk was lovely and said the sooner i get them filled in the better as a decision will then be made as my Job Seekers Benefit Runs out on Xmas week.

Just be aware OP that the transition from Jobseekers Benefit to Jobseekers Allowence may not be a smooth one and you may be without money for a couple of weeks while its been sorted out or a means test is taken. In this case you can go to your Community Welfare Officer who will give you your payment while you are waiting to be approved.
