How to get extra subjects for PGDE?

    Hey,

    I've a masters in History, and a degree in history, politics and classics. Basically, I've got the impression my subjects aren't in great demand, and was told in a school that I subbed in that I'd never get a permanent job if I did the dip.
    I guess I'm wondering would the general consensus be that this is true? And if so, how do I go about getting more sellable subjects?

    I know of people who just did a subject for the dip that they were not qualified in, is this possible?

    I've been workin as a Languge Teacher for two years now, and I'm keen to get into secondary teaching in the future.

    Yes, it's possible. But "doing a subject for the dip" is simply a teaching methodology for the purposes of satisfying the dip requirements. Some people do so if they don't have a suitable second subject. But it is of no revelance outside the dip. It does not qualify you to teach a subject.

    Doing a year of methodology lectures does not confer degree status or its equivalence on a subject which is what is required to qualify to teach a subject.

    As the above poster has said, the only way to be qualified to teach a subject is to have a degree in it. There is no "shortcut" way to get an extra subject.
