    Hello,
my new wife currently drives a 2006 hatch corolla. 70000 kilometres.
She thinks she is all grown up now and wants a newer 'wife' car. She wants,
    a bigger engine,
    a 2007 car,
    Trade in,
but not spend anymore than around €4000.

No kids, maybe in the next few years.
She does about 130 kilometres a week for work.
    Can anyone suggest any cars?

    Thanks.

First I would suggest that you don't let your wife read this
She thinks she is all grown up now
otherwise your new car will most likely be a wheelchair :D

Jesus. How patronising can one person be?

I read the title and thought you weanted to a new car for your wife in the sense that you wanted an amazing car to be spend all of your time with!!

I was looking forward to another thread of amazing cars and their merits...

    Im so dissappointed.:(

DO you think she'd be interested in a 07 Sportage 2L? My Missus is looking to get a smaller car

i ain't touching this one with a barge pole... could open up a can of worms...

    Hey again.
I honestly was not being patrionising. My wife hasn't seen this thread but that is the way she herself described this new car that she wants. She does want a family car but does want a 'wife' car.
    I'm just relaying the description.
Was thinking or an avensis, or a passat?
    2l sportege.... Too big, sorry.
    Come on, more suggestions?

Her indoors moved up from an Ibiza 3dr in 2007 to a Volvo V50 and she still loves the car.

Estate is big enough for the dog, it's a proper grown up car with all the bells and whistles, and there is room for little ones if they come along.

Damn, thought you were proposing a swap, I was about to ask you to post some pics of her before I'd commit:(

Savman, that's not very nice now is it.
Just for the record....my wife is like a Bugatti Veyron.....the very best there is!

Looks like she is leaning towards an avensis.

    Any serious suggestions?

    How about a Peugeot 307/308? Or even a 307/308SW?

    Very "wifey".

03 or newer mercedes e200 or the e220 deisel.. safe(5 star),powerful, wifey, good for family... and solid on the road unlike some of the other cars suggested

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭Johnnyq79

    E200, not a chance.

Criteria is as set out already.

    Has to be 2007+,
    bigger than 1.4 petrol.
    'wifey'
    not necessarly 'family'

trading a 2006 corrolla and want to spend no more than €4-5000.
so working out trade in price.
    Total price range. <=€14000

You tell her she's a corolla girl and that's just the way it is now... if she wants an upgrades to something fancier then you'll have to do the same with her!!

... if you try this... give us some feedback as curious as to results.

ps... if she gives you any jip...

Tell her you were checking out a nice curvacious bavarian one down the road which had some smooth looking lines, and that you wouldn't mind taking a testdrive after seeing what she's got under the hood!

    Made a deal today.

    2008 Toyota Corolla saloon
    1.4 petrol
    Luna model
    black
    30,000 kilometres
€4,500 with the 2006 Corolla hatch.
    she's happy.

    What ye think?

If her own idea of a "Wife's Car" is tending towards an Avensis then I'd suspect that this is the wrong place to ask for suggestions...

    Get her a moped :D

Hmmm...goes against what you suggested...if I say any more I'll be banned...

Meh, spending 4.5k so my licence plate says ''08'' instead of ''06'' makes no sense to me.

    That's just me though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 169 ✭✭Johnnyq79

Hey, hey. She has a bigger car, a 08 reg and the 4,500 is a good price.
The 1.4l petrol will be handy enough on fuel ant the 08 corolla saloon is a realatively new model.

We are very happy with it!

Congratulations with a new car although the only happy person I think is the car dealer who convinced you to go for this.
I wish I could be a car dealer and one day have a customer like you!

Personally I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole, but I hate Toyota's anyway.

It may be a dull car to some....but to others its just a shinny new car.
well wear and good luck with it.
