Just thought I'd start a thread on this as DSO begins today from this transmitter serving NW England (Granada region). The first of the highpower muxes at 100kw (BBC A) should be up and running on UHF channel 62-.

Any chance of these new muxes being picked up in coastal areas of Down, Louth or Meath? I think mrdtv has said that pre-DSO reception of Winter Hill was reported in parts of Down. Also To_be_confirmed reported borderline analogue reception of WH on ch 65 from his location in Co. Louth.

Yes, we'll have some results soon. Winter Hill DSO is now confirmed all along the North Wales coast perfect reception and as far south as Walsall, West Midlands on a loft aerial (absolutely perfect.) There is also very interesting news on Llanddona in Ireland, I'll post that separately.

Update: Winter Hill DSO PSB1 confirmed in South Down on Ch 62, 100kW. More later.

Winter Hill DSO is now being received in East and South Down, details to follow. Note that the Freeview MPEG2 boxes do not register the new HD transmissions. BBC HD is the same as on satellite and ITV1HD will be a peak time simulcast in HD of ITV1. C4 HD starts next year and is the same as satellite.

As measured by Jordy over on ukfree.tv:

ndustrycynic - There are no CCI problems with Newcastle... Albeit both channels are 2db down on normal which isn't that concerning. I would call 54db normal for those analogue channels...

    Winter Hill - BBCA 61db BER 14db
    D3&4 59db BER 15db
    PSB3 (DVB-T2) NOTHING
ARQA 54db BER 10db Very Flat.
    ARQB Non Existent??
    SDN 57db 11-14db

Those are very respectable levels. The current meters cannot see the DVB-T2 transmissions on PSB 3 (these are running at 100kW) and the Arqiva B mux on E55 is to be run at 12.5kW till 2011 in order not to interfere with another UK DTT transmitter until that area switches over, after that it goes to 100kW like all the others. In practice this means a very good Winter Hill DTT service in South and East Down, and possibly Louth too. (Where are the expert Dxers to confirm this?)

From Jordy over on ukfree.tv in the Manchester & NW DSO thread, What price an aerial installation thread, the Winter Hill transmitters thread. (You'll have to do a search because too busy to post links alas!)
