Nanny: Awh its very sad, that hairdressers across the road is after closing down. Its been in the area 30years now.

Me: Emmm didn't you stop going there and start going the chinese hairdressers?

Nanny: Well its half the price

Me: Well then your part of the problem

Nanny: Ah but still its very sad.

Would you go out of your way to keep your local community shops going or go for new cheaper outsider?

Our local Indian is going out of business because a competitor has set up and is well nicer.

Feel sorry for the old place because they keep changing names and doing increasingly desperate flyer drops, and am always tempted to do a few mercy orders until I think of the vindaloo in the new place.......

Its 5 euro for a dry gents cut in there, im going in in the morning for a much needed mop chop to see if they're value for money. 2 back and sides cant be much of a challenge.

It's a pity to see a long standing shop etc go out of business, but if there is a new competitor in their vicinity charging cheaper prices for the same services, you can understand why people chose to go to the new places.
