Ah, so you admit you're the crazy one, not us. Glad you agree with us :D
There are loads of bike shops in the city centre, and pretty much all of them have what you would need (which is?) for general cycling purposes. I find online retailers are better for more brand-proprietary parts or hard to find material - or from the reports on here, getting a higher end road bike, at a discounted price compared to retailers here. But for stuff like chains, brake cables, tubes, etc, you are better off supporting your LBS.

Actually on a related note, has anyone here experienced any problems/delays with getting stuff sent over from the UK with the postal strike on there? I may need to pick up a truvativ powerspline bb (probably from chainreaction or wiggle) in the coming days, and just wondering if i should just leave it and use a different cranks+bb I have already...

    http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=Y1016

granted neither are in stock atm, but i didn't look very hard, PBK every so often tend to have decent bulk deals if you get 5+ tubes at once...

I have ordered from each of the following in the last two weeks and I haven't noticed any real delay: probikekit, chainreaction, prendas, wiggle, evans. Christ, I have a serious problem.

Ribble. The long valves are more expensive but still around £2.50 each. Short valves £2 each for the Vittorias. Let me know if you want to share on postage, I need to get some stuff from them myself.

CRC should be quicker as it's based in the North and not the mainland UK. I feel your pain, everyday your hoping, waiting, expecting and the then nothing!

Ordered from CRC on Monday the 26th, didn't arrive till Tuesday the 3rd. Longest ever delivery from CRC.

Wiggle claim to be shipping everything via courier at no extra charge, so you shouldn't notice any difference from them. CRC shipping via GLS is only a fiver, so if your order is worth more than €30, I'd say it's worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

I got reasonably fast delivery from Wiggle and VERY fast delivery from PBK recently (fastest ever from PBK.)

I'm also waiting for a parcel from Wales...and that was dispatched on Monday too, I wonder which will arrive first :)

I saw 700x23 tubes in a French hypermarket 2 summers ago for 79c. For some inexplicable reason I didn't buy any and haven't been able to bring myself to buy a tube since. As a result I now have about 12 patches on my back tube, 10 on my front and God knows how many on my only spare.

I have this carbon filter mask and this helmet for sale if you like.

The mask was used once. The helmet is used but with brand new pads from the top end Giro Ionos (Silver woven anti-bacterial pads)

You can have both for 50 if you're interested.

Some other good cheap sites are Ribble, Parker International and Slane Cycles.

Maybe there's been a run on them :D Only bought a few myself as had already opted for a Ribble bulk buy.

Yeah, stock if -11 last night when I had a look too. So I got some of these instead - however, they are now current stock of -2! These things move fast.

May have been mentioned before, but is it worth having a dedicated thread for bargains? Post a link to a good deal - after you've helped yourself first of course ;)

On PBK it goes into the negatives when they run out of stock.

sweet, wonder how they set it up with the 2 for 1 deal though, did they half the stock that appeared on the site?

Presumably when it's in negative figures, your order will still be honoured?

I wouldn't count on it, possibly the last 11 ordered won't go out. Certainly both CRC and Wiggle have cancelled orders on me in the past although has never happened with PBK yet as far as I can recall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,901 ✭✭✭lukester

I figured if they were unable to re-stock an item it would show up as such. The negative implies, to me, that stuff will be on back-order. Will be interested to see.

Or maybe the system has a bug and no one is going to get any tubes.

Don't mind me, I'm just stirring the pot.

At least imma gonna get my tubes. Should have ordered more.

No, with PBK it always goes to negatives first, even when the next step after the negatives is the blank "that product is not in our database" screen.
