Connect laptop to tv

    Hi all,

    Not sure this is in the right forum, mod's please feel free to move this if it's not, apologies ;/

    I own a Dell Vostro 1310 and need to connect it to my tv. I have the correct cable but when I connect it nothing happens.

    Thats about all Ive managed to do- bit of a idiot when it comes to this kind of technology :(

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Computers & Technology might get you better here than here.

    Its possible you just have to change your display settings. Are you trying to use the tv as a monitor?

    If you right click on your desktop, and click properties, and then in display what do you have as a monitor when the tv is connected with the cable?

    I'll move this, but note that if it is a HDMI cable it will sort out sound picture, an S Video connection ( small round connection) will only show the picture, you will need another cable for the sound, this is also the case for VGA 9the 9 pin D standard old type monitor connection) and in most cases DVI. You will also need to switch the output on the notebook to send the signal to the S Video port.
