Grad Dip Education in Australia

    Hi All,

First time posting in this forum. I have a 2nd Class Honours in Marketing from DIT (recognised by the Teaching Council in Ireland for Accounting/Business/Economics) and I am heading to Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia next year to do my Grad Dip in Ed (Secondary).

The TC kindly informed me in their email that they cannot guarantee that this Dip will be recognised when I return to Ireland.

...'This Grad Dip is not automatically recognised by the Council, however, it is open to you to apply for recognition once completed and the assessment is then based on meeting our criteria for a teacher education qualification, Secondary. I attach an outline of our recognised PGDE for reference to our requirements.'

Basically just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue with a qualification outside the EU and how did it work out for them.

    Thanks!
