Not such a good feeling if your car is supposed to run on unleaded.

Or if you have a diesel engine then you wont feel so good if you get stopped by customs. Stopped me last week, first time I had ever seen them. Luckily I use the legit stuff, first fine is €1000

Couple of my neighbours got their exhausts swabbed-customs came onto their farm and did it there and then. Hefty fine-looks like we'll just have to use the cooking oil!

Hope your car is a tractor, otherwise customs are gonna want a word with you.

Exact same fine for using that. Plus, you'll be going around smelling like a mobile Maccaris.

Nooo, I don't trust things past their sell-by date.

I mean just things with the offers on "Half price", "Buy one get one free", "Reduced";; well they're yellow in my Tesco, I can't vouch for elsewhere :P

And Value stuff.. people turn up their noses at it.
Tesco Value biscuits (namely Bourbons and Jaffa Cakes) are amazing

Not sure the word "bargain" is the one to use if it's something illegal; kinda like getting a 40" TV for €50 from the local thief-scum.

And considering you know the price of unleaded and not standard diesel I've half an idea that it won't be such a bargain in the long run!

Well no shop is legally allowed to sell anything after its best before date. Its fine if they want to sell something on the date its due out, but knowing people will always go for the same item only with a better date on it - they reduce the price to draw the bargain hunters.

I use some of their value products, because for the most part the product is equally as good as the other brand names. The Tesco stuff is cheaper mostly because of the reduced cost packaging.

It's not cheaper packaging, in fact the unit creation cost may be greater for Tesco own-brand than for well known brands, because Tesco don't buy in such large quantities. The price difference is because own-brand product prices don't contain the cost of brand advertising.

Well thats a given, but would the lack of design / colour not equate the smaller orders cost wise?

I'll have to disagree with you there. Only last week I paid for a pint with a €20 note and got change of a €50 back in return.....Bargain!!!

Mass cheap consumtion is is behind the idea and you will get a bargain but from my own expierence , you buy any electrical product from Tesco or ASDA such as an iron ,hoover , etc they are usually quite poor in design ,quality ,performance and usually conk out after a few months .Asda slightly have the edge on many products over Tesco and their clothes range is roughly around same price but imo , good quality and more stylish than Tesco .

Lads, the tesco branded stuff is an example of price discrimination. The less
well-off / more price sensitive buy the tesco stuff and the mugs buy the branded goods.
There's often very little difference between them. True story.

I hate them, it just shows how much profit they make the rest of the time. They encourage waste, they often mean the producer has been short changed in the deal and they're just a small part of a larger plot to kill off small business and take over the world. Anyone who likes them has sold their sole and children's future to the heartless, multinational corporate machine.
