Macbook

    A woman at work asked me to have a look at her daughters Macbook as its not turning on.

    Im not sure of spec as I just got the laptop and nothing with it but I know its 13" and its a year - 18 months old.

    It wont work without being plugged in which led me to believe it was a battery issue, but when I plug it in a light on the front comes on to indicate its on and I can hear the HD starting but not spinning, also the screen stays blank which makes me think maybe theres a hard drive problem along with possibly a battery that needs replacing.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    i'd start with removing the Hard drive. and see how you progress. if the laptop hasn't been used in a while the battery may be dead. if you aren't confident removing the drive then take to an apple specialist and they will help you.

    Doesn't look good, but try the following:

    Resetting the SMC:

    Zapping the PRAM:

    Try and get the install disc from her and try booting from it by holding C at startup. You can also run a hardware test:
