Got a missed call to my mobile from a +44 number today, and couldn't figure out who it might have been. I rang back but the number was constantly engaged. I then Googled it to find out what part of the UK it was coming from, and it turned out to be Northern Ireland.

Cant post the full No. here, but THIS is a link to it on the interweb, apparently it's a well known scammer number. They are posing as O2 and ask you to change from prepay to billpay and look for your bank account details, so beware.

As I mentioned, I didn't answer, however, I know what I'm gonna say the next time they ring, but I cant post that here either :D.

That must be why it costs me 50c a minute to call someone while using "free text" plan, scamming backstards!

My phone number was listed on that whocallsme website before as a 'suspicious' number.

So does that mean that somebody who missed a call from me went on and entered my number to see if it was well known and then I automatically get listed as 'suspicious' do I?

    Bollocks to that.

I got a call from them and answered it about a month ago.

Sounds very convincing. They get info out of you about what you are paying ATM and then they try beat it. (Which of course they do)

Once they asked for my bank details they where swiftly told to fcuk off.

Got a call around a month ago. They asked me to confirm details, like my date of birth. I said no. They said they could confirm their authenticity somehow. I said no, I'll talk to O2 about my planss if I want. They said 'suit yourself' and hung up.

Got a few missed calls from a different +44 number today.. weird. I'm always suspicious when they don't leave a voicemail.

Em...... as it happens I made a few enquiries about this with O2, and you're not going to believe this, but it is legit !!

Believe it or not O2 are actually contracting a Company based in Belfast to flog off the new service they're offering. After starting this thread a while ago I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

I made a point of explaining to the O2 manager I was talking to, that this will be a disasterous campaign, because it was already strongly rumoured to be a phone scam on forums and elsewhere. I also pointed out that maybe they should have sent all O2 pre pay customers a text message explaining this offer, after all, they send out plenty of other text msgs to people offering useless shite nobody wants.

Anyway, sorry for the false alarm folks :o

not sure brian, this was originally about, and to, O2 prepay mobiles, but if the call was from a NI no. then maybe so.

Can't understand why they're using a Belfast based Company to do their telesales ? the fcuks could have kept the business home grown considering the state the economy's in.

Funny, anytime anybody I have never met in my life calls me looking for my bank account details I just give it to them.

    Thats me. The trusting type.

I got a call from them about a month ago, at eight pm I answered and the girl told me who they were etc. They wanted to survey me as I had moved from the O2 network. I said I couldn't talk at the moment and thought that was that.
I was wrong! The next evening at the same time, my phone started ringing, it was the same number. I watched as I got 4 'missed calls' in ten minutes. I finally answered just to get them to stop calling. They are very persistent.
Won't be going back to the O2 network now!!!:D

Considering the bastards ****ed over 500 businesses in the last few months nothing is beyond them, the handed the half british half americam fcukers crapphone the whole Irish retail sales channel for free. http://www.mobilenewscwp.co.uk/News/293106/o2_ireland_tears_up_the_channel.html The irish independent quoted them on sunday as being the most expensive network in the country they said and I quote "run a mile" how anyone is still with them is beyond me. ****
