    Hi all.

I've signed up for the Waterford 1/2 Marathon on Dec 12th, the first run of any real distance that I will have done. I've checked out the route and elevation but I'm just wondering if the route will be marked so that newbies like myself have some idea of how far there is to go? Don't want my "Chariots Of Fire" moment to come too soon on the day.:D

Are there generally mile markers or something similar at these events?

    Thanks

Maybe the organisers will jump in and answer. However it would be unusual not to have mile and/or km markers.

Looking forward to doing this. Nice and flat I think (though I've not actually recce'd the Tramore Road).

Good luck with the training, build up to 10-11 miles beforehand if you can.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but do you/anyone know when the closing date for the Waterford half marathon is?

I'm humming and hawing at the moment about doing it. Just wondering do I have much more time before having to make a decision ;)

    Thanks Sungod!

Had a look at their website, but it doesn't say. I'll do as you suggest, and e-mail them.

Tut tut - it does say on their website!

Its 20 euro online and its 30 euro if you register on the day. Race is 11 am so reg is approx until 9.30 am.

I know a lot of people doing this (myself included) so I reckon its going to be a big one. Hope the organisers are prepared!

Tempted by this one myself as well if it is a nice flat course. Just trying to decide if I go for this and smash my half pb, I'd manage that just by turning up at the start line, or do the Aware 10k instead.

I guess there is more than enough 10ks about for another day though.

I think you should do the 10k.

 I must be going blind, I honestly didn't see that! Thanks for the confirmation though, still plenty of time for me to talk myself out of doing it ;)
