I want to multi-track record my gig this Friday night in Dublin. 2 musicians, about 6 mics. Anyone know anyone doing this kind of thing?

If you find somebody let me know because I have to multitrack a gig on fri 13th and would love to pass it on to someone else and just do the mix.

    Hey Frobisher,

I record gigs a good bit, actually doing a big one on saturday. I have a Mackie Onyx 1640 which has a firewire card installed. So what it does is I can mix the whole live gig as you do and then simply send each channel to my laptop through the firewire and record em.....simple.

This is much better than just recording the main mix as I can mix how I like afterwards its great.

Also I can go to a gig and take a feed from the desk that is there and record 12channels through my Echo Audiofire 12, a great piece of kit.

    Conor.

Our own Limerick based Godfrey has a rig - probably too far unless he's up inside the Pale.
I think Andy Knightley has a rig too - I'm unsure of detail though.

    Yeah, I do.
But the rig is BIG!!! RDS, Point Depot, Vicar Street all the rest of it.

Anything more than taking direct outs from the foh board can be a little pricey though. You have my number don't you? We could probably sling something together for Saturday.

Eight channels would be perfect, get a bit of audience on tape too.

Not quite, have not done anything in a while. Needed to get away from it after the summer, head was melted after two albums at the same time one of which was complete sh1te. Won't be taking anything more than a couple of days worth of work at a time for a while, and I'm being choosy about the work I'm taking on to. Which is handy 'cause there seems to be **** all around. But I really haven't been looking too hard.

I'm still going into the studio for maintenance etc and I have a nice session this weekend. Keeping it ticking over, studying (managed to make xcode talk to c-sound!!) and doing a couple of front of house gigs, just small stuff. Been working on the surround thing too, and mixing a documentary from the trip to morocco last year.

Also been messing about with the electro acoustic thing and I'm looking to get my paws on a soundfield for a church organ gig coming up soon too!

So if anybody has some nice quiet classical stuff or acoustic you know where to find me...

sorry about that frobs, as you were folks...

damn! looks like I'm too late reading this, but yes, I have a 48-track mobile unit and also some carry-in kit, but I prefer to park up outside and do it that way. I'm in Clare but distance is pretty much irrelevant. I've done the Vanbrugh Quartet in Kenmare, EP 2008 for 2fm (live to air & multitracked), poker in Galway, Rugby in Belfast, Trad music in Donegal, 'early music' festival in Cork - it's all in a days work, right?

prices could be considered 'competitive' at the moment ;)
