I haven't played a PS for awhile, as I got addicted to the Halo games on the 360, but it's time for a change. I was going to get a Blu-Ray player anyway, so thought now was a good time to go "all-in".

I'd appreciate any advice on some suitable games, as I've no idea what's out there for PS3 (don't shoot me :D ).

Likes: first person shooters, car racing: enjoyed Gran Turismo on the PS1!, loved MGS on PS and Splinter Cell on xbox.

Dislike: all sport sims, tactical group sims like Ghost Recon, The Sims (starting a trend?). I'm not big into on-line games, as I'm (sh@te) not very good, and just prefer to pass a few hours, now and then.

I've also a 13yo & 3yo girls, so I was thinking of getting the Abba Sing It, Buzz game yoke, and the new Eye Pet thing.

My OH (the sensible and mature half :D ), wants to know if there are any exercise titles for the PS3, similiar to the Wii fit?

    TIA

I'm crap at online FPS, but I like Killzone 2, as I'm slightly better at it than CoD4. Both very good single player, if short.
Also enjoyed Metal gear Solid 4. Infamous very good, but Prototype may be slightly better (cue abuse, LOL)
Dead Space if connected up to a good sound system - It will scare the s**te out of you!
Uncharted is brilliant, waiting to get round 2 myself.

Thanks for the thread link, some interesting titles. So I take it that only "Essential" games are listed on that thread?

Thanks for that info, as i've never heard of any of them, apart from MGS.

I've booked COD - Modern Warfare 2, and I intend to pick up MSG 4 as I have to, for old time sake if nothing else. Dead space sounds great! Is it like Silent Hill? Loved that game on PS1 (jeez, showing my age eh?)

Any decent racing games? I've seen the suggestions on the essential thread, but motorstorm and burnout, aren't for me. Is Gran Turismo 4 the best of that type of car racing game?

well if you liked gran turismo on ps1 then you'll like GT5 prologue, even if it is a huge demo!

Check out wipeout HD, available on the PSN or in shops, which is good, 60fps at 1080p too, it's as smooth as silk.

Uncharted 2 is deffo worth a look, and in no particular order, Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid, Batman Arkham Asylum, and if you see a decently priced second hand copy, Ghostbusters is enjoyable enough if you can forgive its flaws

    Think I'm nearly covered here:

    COD - MW2
    MSG4
    Dead Space
    Uncharted 2

    GT5 - prologue
    Burnout Paradise
(Wipeout HD - sorry but that's a NO, makes my eyes hurt!)

    So that's me sorted :D

No exercise titles for the Mrs. - too bad.

There aren't many realistic car racing games out on PS3, but give GRID 2 a look in. Based on what I have read, GT imitators like Ferrari Challenge or whatever, don't cut the mustard.

As an xbox head, and someone who uses the PS3 for a bluray player, Uncharted 2 is the best Ps3 game ive played so far....

I dont want it to end!!!!

    :)

I'm pretty new to PS3 myself. Just picked up Killzone 2 and Burnout Paradise second hand for a total of 29.92 in xtravision.
    Pretty good deal.

I think Fallout 3 , Resident Evil 5 and the upcoming Gran turismo game are must haves.
