And if Sporting Fingal win then they will have to play again on the 22nd in the cup final, so from friday to the 22nd they might have to play either 3 or 5 games.

Not really given the vast amounts of money available to them, with the squad they have they should have walked away with the FD. However UCD totally deserved the title with the brand of football they played.

Sporting Fingal play the same brand of Football. I wish them luck in the play-offs. It suits to have two teams promoted to the Premier Division...... dilutes the talent.

UCD and SF and probably Shels are better than Bray Drogs and Pats

    Not really diluting it tbh

With Derry talking about dropping to the first next year is there a point in playing the relegation play off ? Would it better then to do the Shelbourne v Sporting Fingal a two legged final in a promotion play off?
Waterford V Dundalk play off was a waste of time a while back so do we need a repeat when there is a chance that some players could get injured in a meaningless game or get suspensions through the cards.?

The FAI should tell those clubs that are in trouble whats their league status going to be next year to prevent any pointless play off games.

What if Shelbourne or Fingal win the play offs but for some reason fail to get a premier licence for next year? That would have made the play offs pointless.

If Cork get relegated to the first then would both shels and fingal get promoted if they gain a premier licence to replace cork and derry?

You can't apply logical thinking to anything where the FAI is involved, how do people not now this by now?! :D

The play-off results will give a hierarchy to placings connecting the Premier Division and First Division. If a club above the low PD are demoted than that club can be replaced by the next club inline, the one that lost the Play-off Final. If their are two clubs then a play-off between the losing semi-finalists may take place.

    Still messy all the same.

Bray Wanderers (a whole lot) and Drogheda Utd. (home venue and presumed easier opponents) have benefited from the simple hierarchy of the Premier Division and First Division and play each other tonight at United Park.

KO 7.45. Season tickets valid and U-14's free.........nice gesture from the club

Just got back from United Park, and after Drogheda nearly going out of business a year ago, and then the dreadful start we had to this season, it feels like we've won a cup final!

Chambers was playing right back, but still managed to score a peach of a free kick from the edge of the box. Bray closed us down well in the first half, but seemed to run out of steam after an hour.

    Thank God that's over!

Keelys treatment of James Chambers and utter waste of him while he was manager of Shels was the worst thing he did for us, I really hope he comes back...

He's a class act. Plays equally well in central midfield or as an attacking full back - and a devastating free kick.

We've been a one man team this year, and Chambers was that man. 7 league goals and player of the year award says it all.

He's some player alright, he looked like he was going to be a star in the Shels team that was winning leagues, yet somehow Keely couldn't make it work for him in the first division. I'm delighted he's doing so well now

Fairly hard for any midfielder to shine in a Keely team, I'm surprised McAllister did so well this season.

Indeed, the fact he was so reluctant to play him in his best position didn't help either

Congrats to Sporting Fingal and Drogheda Utd. on winning.
