King Lear Key Quotes.

Hey, I am repeating so I only have the one year to do King Lear as the single text, have just read it properly but my teacher isn't great so I really need someone to tell me the key quotes of the play? Any help is much appreciated.

Alot of the quotes I've learned from act 1 arn't in yours, and some are the short version i.e.a line instead of 2.

That's because I only typed the quotes our teacher told us to learn. There's no set list of quotes. Same with poetry and everything else. In the exam they don't really care which quote you use as long as it illustrates your point.
I'm open to suggestions though.

I'm not sure, it would make sense that different quotes would make more/less impact though?

The teachers pick whichever quotes they like. If you look at the revision books and notes on the internet, they each have different quotes. And anyway we learn loads of quotes and only use a few in the actual essay.

I'm in the same position but haven't gotten through with reading from the start of act 4...is it easy enough to just read the summaries and notec on scenes and learn quotes? Really don't have the time to translate and analyse each scene by myself.

There is no set list, Shakespeare didn't write it for students to just learn off line 57 from Act 1 scene ii:rolleyes:

Use quotes to back up your points and show that you know the text well. It's very annoying to read an essay with a tonne of quotes and no substance. You're better off focusing on themes, characters and drama and knowing some lines that you can use, rather than learning off reams of quotes.
