It varies, full amount is €205 or so. I'm on JSB for instance and getting €132. You likely live at home, are under 25 and some of your parents' income has been taken into account.

If you have been paying prsi for the last 2yrs you will qaulify for Jsb which is not means tested but if you have not paid enough prsi you have to apply for JSA and go for a means test and if your living your parents and under 24 or 25 your parents income is taken into acount.

the amount of JSB or JSA you get also depends on your wages before you became unemployed..

For example, since January 2009 if your earnings was between €210 and €299.99 per week - your maximum payment is €160.10
If you earned €300+ - the maximum payment is €204.30

For certain on JSB because this is what happened to me - it is means tested in the sense that if you are under 25 and your parents income (who you are living with) is above a certain threshold, this is deducted from your €205 (or so), so in my case €130.

Do you mean that your JSA is means tested to take your parents' income into account? Didn't know they did that for JSB also.

JSB is not means tested and depends only on your PRSI contributions.

That said, if your earnings were below a certain threshold your JSB will be reduced as well. In these cases you can apply to be means tested for JSA and recieve the larger of the payments you are entitled to.

I am on job seekers benefit (JSB) meaning I had enough PRSI contributions to qualify for 9 months. However because I live at home, am under 25 and one parent has a high income, it was reduced to €130 from €205. This might also be in part due to the fact that I worked a 3 day week in the proceeding 13 weeks for average money. So in this sense I was "means-tested". As Xiney says, true means testing that examines your finances personally only occurs with job seekers allowance or JSA.
