Strikes vs. 20,000 letters a day

This is something that has been going through my mind for a while. Surely, instead of losing money during a strike, and inconveniencing the people your service service, that every member of a certain sector writing a letter every day to the relevant department they are seeking attention from. The dismay this would cause in any department would have them responding asap so that they can actually sort through their relevant mail!

This occurred to me during the taxi driver strikes. Rather than ruining your own public image due to lack of contact from the government, just bombard the department of transport with letters, blank or otherwise! You still make money driving around taking fares and having half the country up in arms about their antics!

Discuss and destroy with fiery pokers as there is probably something huge ive missed :)

    Maybe 1 in 20, so they'll at least see a few :P

But then we can record them throwing em in the grey bin and do em in for recycling blah blah blah :)

The only problem with that is the strikers are probably too lazy to write letters every day and pay 55c everyday only for the department to just send it straight to the recyling plant.

Surely though, to get to their own mail they are gonna haveta sift through the mail of all the employess?

Pretty much every department has a freepost address...
And if people were to fill out department-relevant forms with bad information...

I dare say that with a little coordination, a few thousand people could pretty much cripple the normal operations of a department with a minimum of effort.

I'm not saying that this is a good thing to do, but it could certainly work.

Definitely sounds like an idea that could work to me. But its not the same as taking a half day on a Friday, is it:confused:

Are you on commission from An Post?

I think your idea isn't bad from a convenience point of view, but that's why it wouldn't work. Strikes occasionally work because they make life uncomfortable for the public and, as a result, policy makers who then change tack. If the public aren't angry and giving out to their local TD, nothing will change.

But in the case of the taxi drivers again, all the strikes did was makin a lot of people say "feckin taxi drivers at it again" whereas this would just disturb the department?
