Well.. first things first, are your irons the reason you are 8 instead of 5?
What is your current set & what about your current ones do you feel could be improved.
I changed mine a couple of years ago because my original set of forged Rams were getting tired. My current set of Titleist 735CM aren't dramatically different which is no bad thing because I like the look of a fairly traditional iron... no huge cavity and thin top line.
I may actually play better with a more forgiving set of irons but I wouldn't enjoy it as much. I like the balance between some forgiveness and some workability.
I got mine custom fit a year after buying them for loft and lie because I was shaping everything with a draw... my lie angles were altered (a lot) and this has taken some getting used to but I would seriously recommend that before you buy you try out various makes and models of irons that you like the look of. See and feel the difference that different shafts make...
I'd love a set of Mizuno MP62's but I also like the look of some of the Taylormade Irons and would try them out too. I see Titleist have a new MB set which looks sweet but that's one for the dreams rather than the course.

Mizuno or miura are top of my list, but I'm going to go to a pro shopand ask for advice after the analyse my swing, then I hope to try a few and have them fitted. It's different strokes for different folks really.

    what's your price range.
if you have the cash try the new R9 TP irons from Taylor Made.
I use Mizuno Mp57's and i thought they were good untill i tried these,i don't have the cash at the mo though.

Then definitely get a proper custom fitting session done to see what works for you. When I ordered mine off a local shop, the guy spent a couple of minutes with me and recommended I order my irons 1 degree flat but this wasn't close to enough. A proper fitter will spend plenty of time with you and get you set up the way you want.

+1 for mizunos. Ive the mp67s - very sexy irons & I find the long irons surprisingly easy to hit (compared to my ben hogan apex blades i played since a teen)

I bought them second hand for 220 euro & got retro fitted by a pro in Birr.
I bought true temper sl stiff shafts off ebay for 40 euro & the custom fitting cost me 140 euro. Standard length now with 1˚upright on 7 to 3 iron & 1/2˚up right on 8 iron to 58˚wedge.

I too used to hit everything with a hard draw due to the wrong shafts & lie but now Ive only a slight draw (must be my natural shape).

Defo some great bargains to be had coming up to January on old stock as all the new models come out for 2010.

i need to try out some mizuno's, but for wedges, im romancing the idea of miura.. :D I think as you did, buying cheap and then having fitted will probably be best.

If I had cash then I would upgrade my current RAC MB's to these beauties.
